VOTE: LC Bird’s Student-Athlete of the Month for December

Below is a list of our Student-Athlete’s outstanding accomplishments during the month of December.  Please vote below for the candidate who you feel is most deserving as  LC Bird Student-Athlete of the Month.  Deadline to vote is 2:00 PM on Monday, January 9, 2017.

Mya Coleman: Girls Basketball

Mya is a team captain with a 3.0 GPA.  At the Tip-Off Classic vs. Nansemond River, Mya was the Player of the Game.  Her stats for the month of December are as follows: 10 pts/game, 8 rebounds/game, 2 assists/game, 3 steals/game

Jyles Webster: Boys Basketball

Jyles, a senior, has maintained a 3.0 GPA through his entire time at LC Bird.  During the month of December, he averaged 9 pts and 10 rebounds while the team went undefeated.  He also received a full athletic scholarship from Concord University and will be attending there next fall to continue playing basketball in college.

Julian Dixon: Wrestling

Julian holds a 15-3 record for the month of December – the best on the team. He is in the engineering program with a 4.8 GPA. He is a natural leader as a sophomore and one of the captains of the team. Julian has raised over $700 this month in fundraisers to support the wrestling program. He is a model student athlete and is held to the highest standard by his friends and wrestling teammates.

Aaron Lewis: Boys Indoor Track

Junior, Aaron Lewis, is currently ranked in the top 8 of the state in the 55-meter Hurdles. Aaron is a well-rounded student-athlete as an honor roll student and is enrolled in the engineering program, as well as a member of the football team and track teams – qualifying for all-state in 3 outdoor track events.  From his experience, he has become a quiet, yet empowering leader on the team.

L’nya Carpenter: Girls Indoor Track

Through the month of December, L’nya has already qualified for the state meet in the triple jump with a leap of 36′-9″ and is currently ranked 3rd in the 5A state as a freshman. She is close to qualifying for the state meet in three running events – 300m, 500m, and 1000m.

Jordan Andrews: Winter Cheer

Jordan, a junior, is in her third  year as a varsity winter cheerleader. Jordan has a 3.6 GPA and has shown great leadership on the sideline for the month of December.
