Bird’s varsity basketball had a great year, leading to the state championship game again for the second time.  This time, they took home the trophy!

Troy Manns is the head coach for the boys varsity basketball team. He had a strong rotation of 15 players.

Last year, the boys basketball team had an outstanding season with a record of 25-2; this year that was increased to 26-1.

When Coach Manns was asked what was one of his goals for the season this year, he stated, “To win the 5A State Championship.”

Coming into the season, the team goal was to be ranked #1 for the entire season. When asked who was the most outstanding team player on the team, Coach Manns answer was emphatic: “the whole team.”

The biggest  games this year were against Trinity, John Marshall, and Norcom and the team performed well in all of the games. Mario Haskett, Cam Henry, and Pinky Wiley all were outstanding this year, being recognized with  athletic achievements of All-Conference, All- Region, and Pinky Wiley won Player of the Year.

The players on the team are very competitive.  They love winning!

And we Skyhawks love watching them win!
